Why is there a difference between last traded price and closing price on NSE?

The closing price of the day and the last traded price (LTP) typically diverge. This is so because the NSE's closing price is the weighted average of the day's trade over the preceding 30 minutes. The last traded price for the day is the current last traded price.

Since the close on the daily candle is updated using the NSE bhavcopy closure, the LTP will not coincide with the close on the daily charts. If the market has changed significantly during the past 30 minutes, the disparity is typically larger.
