Why has my fund balance increased but shares are missing from holdings?

The shares you bought are short delivered by the exchanges and will not show in your demat immediately. The seller of the share must deliver it to the exchange when you purchase it. If the trader doesn't deliver the shares, the transaction is considered to be short delivered.

To acquire the shares with short deliveries, the exchange runs an auction. These shares are given to you on the T+2 auction settlement day. The deal is paid in cash if the exchange is unable to buy the shares on your behalf. The exchange resolves it in this scenario using the close-out rate and settles it in cash. The close-out rate is 20% more than the closing price on the auction day (T+1) or the stock's highest price between the time you sold it and the auction day, whichever is higher.
