What does delisting of a stock mean?

Delisting refers to the removal of a company's shares from a stock exchange. This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as:

  1. The company may have gone bankrupt or liquidated.
  2. The company may have merged with or been acquired by another company.
  3. The company may have decided to go private and take itself off the public market.
  4. The company may have violated listing requirements, such as failing to meet financial reporting requirements or failing to maintain a minimum number of shareholders.
  5. The stock may have had low trading volume or a low market capitalization, making it less attractive to investors.
