What are Open interest limits?

Open Interest limits are basically limits on the amount of open positions that can exist in a particular futures or options contract. These limits are set by the stock exchange or regulatory body to ensure enough liquidity to manage risk.

There is a client-specific open interest limit of 5% of the total number of derivative contracts for the same underlying, and a trading member (brokers) -specific open interest limit of 15%.
